Following the success of its launch last year, Sesame Workshop, the non-profit creators of Sesame Street, has announced the launch of brand new episodes of Sesame Street Mecha Builders – the first animated Sesame Street spin-off - on ABC Kids this week.

The new Mecha Builders episodes will air each weekday morning at 8.10am, and will once again see Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby re-imagined as robot heroes-in-training who use their STEM superpowers to solve larger-than-life problems.

The series introduces children to STEM concepts like simple machines, force, and properties of matter, illustrated with help from the Mechas and their unique powers.

New highlight episodes include:

The Pretty Big Thing: The mysterious “Pretty Big Thing” is scaring people from going to work, so it’s up to the Mechas to find out what it is.

All Mechas on Deck: Lloyd’s testing a wind-up powered go-cart, but a problem arises when it keeps running out of energy. The Mechas realise that in order to make the car keep going they need to find another source of energy.

Silly Hat Catastrophe: Lloyd is selling silly hats at the factory, but when the hat machine malfunctions it starts raining silly hats on Pretty Big City! The Mechas need to find a way to stop the factory’s smokestack from spewing hats before the city gets too silly!

The Escaping Cows of Sunny Field Farm: Zee’s new drone accidentally doubles as a cow caller, and the cows keep leaving the farm to go see it. The fence has no holes and the cows can’t open the gate, so the cows must be jumping over the fence. But how?

Complementary video content has also been released on YouTube including a Mecha Cookie Monster remix of nursery rhyme ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’, and a dance video with Mecha Cookie called ‘Do the Mecha Cookie Dance!’

“Kids and families have turned to Sesame Street for over fifty years for fun, educational, and safe content with a whole lot of heart, and we’re thrilled that Sesame Street Mecha Builders is reaching, and connecting with, a whole new audience on ABC Kids,” said Whit Higgins, Senior Vice President, International Media & Education and Global Distribution, Sesame Workshop.

“We’re delighted with the launch of Sesame Street Mecha Builders on ABC Kids, and how quickly our audience has embraced the series,” says Maria-Nicole Miriklis, Acquisitions Manager, Children’s Content, ABC.

New Sesame Street Mecha Builders episodes will launch on ABC Kids this week and will air every weekday morning at 8.10am.
