Under the Covers: The Livestream Concert Series Powered Entirely by a Smartphone

  • Written by Campaign Lab

Smartphone manufacturer OPPO has teamed up with a series of leading Aussie artists to bring fans an exclusive live stream concert experience. The live stream series is powered entirely by OPPO’s latest device, the Find X2 Pro, set for release in Australia on June 9th.

The series kicked off last Thursday, with Vera Blue treating fans to an intimate acoustic performance, including a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes”. The series is hosted by Triple J’s Linda Marigliano who will also facilitate a Q&A with the artists during the performance. New artists are announced each week on OPPO’s Instagram and on the artists social channels. Fans will also have the chance to vote in what cover the artist performs.

At a time full of uncertainty with live gigs as we once knew them on hold, live streams are proving to be the way for fans and artists to stay connected. Putting a unique spin on the live stream experience, the entire series is powered by OPPO’s latest smartphone, the Find X2 Pro, with 48MP + 48MP +13MP triple-camera set-up and leading Snapdragon 865 5G processor.

Speaking of the series, OPPO Australia’s Marketing & Partnerships Executive, Teira Humby said, “In this up close and personal live stream series, we’ll get some of the country’s best artists to tell all for fans from under the covers and give an exclusive acoustic performance for fans.”

“With the current pandemic situation putting a hold on live performances, artists and fans are looking for new ways to connect with each other, and live stream performances from home now provide a new way for fans to interact with their favourite artists.”

James “Griff” Griffiths, Executive Creative Director of the agency behind the campaign, BRING said, “We have been working with OPPO for a few years on creative initiatives in music. During these current turbulent times for live music, furthering this partnership by developing an ownable format for the brand and offering fans an intimate way to connect with artists they love felt like a great fit. Using our leading world-class data, insights and industry knowledge, BRING was able to curate a line-up that will resonate with fans and we can’t wait to see how it connects over the coming weeks”.

Under the Covers is set to continue this week, with the next artist being announced in the series as none other than Aussie legend, Sam Hales from The Jungle Giants.
