Understanding the difference between different keratin Hair products

  • Written by Cara Barilla

To understand the different products will help you identify what you need to avoid and sustain in your daily home hair care routine. The focus is to obtain optimal steps to sustain healthy hair and scalp support. Enriching and coating your hair with keratin isn’t a one-step simple method. It is a step up in maintenance to care and respect your hair. Here is an ideal path to help elongate your keratin experience and understanding the key difference between products.

Keratin complex: Keratin Complex smoothing treatments are not straightening treatments. a lot of clients get the impression that keratin “straightens hair” however many misleading adverts may title the brand to do so. Keratin Complex smoothing treatments reduce and minimise curl, targets the weak areas of the hair, stretch hens & coats the hair and reinforces the structure. This helps to repair damage, coats your hair against humidity, and reduce frizz whilst leaving hair soft, silky looking, high in shine surface texture. and smooth to style. This product lasts up to 4-6 months.

Brazilian can cau: Brasil Cacau is very similar to keratin complex. In fact; they are similar in method of application. They have different underlying ingredients of amino acids from fruit extracts to smoothen the hair. This product is a thermal reconstruction treatment which aligns hair cuticles in one direction, resulting in the hair being infused with high shine, smoothness, higher strength and condition, easier styling application for everyday while being frizz-free and humidity resistant. This product lasts anywhere between 4-6 months also.

Keratin shampoo and conditioners:

When your shampoo (or any hair care product) is infused with keratin oil, you are protecting your hair from shedding away the keratin product. You benefit with nourished and coated hair which will enhance the duration of the keratin. This maintains the shiny and smooth surface texture. It also assists to tame frizz, flyaways, and healing protection against heat damage caused by styling tools such as straightening irons or blow dryers. If you don’t use the correct keratin base products after keratin application you are risking stripping away the product upon your next shampoo.

Keratin after care: Keep Your Hair Dry as much as possible prevents any additional coating or film of keratin being washed away which results in an elongated time frame of keratin wear. It’s idea to purchase a Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner. And a product with zero sulphites. Don't Wash Your Hair as Often After the Keratin Treatment to maintain a healthy build up of keratin. Keep Your Hair Down for Keratin Treatment After Care to avoid kinks or hair tie indentation. Use a Silk or satin Pillowcase to prevent “morning nest hair” which will slowly rub away your keratin which often occurs with cotton pillowcases.
