  • Written by mothers.net.au

Summer is finally amongst us and we typically spend more time outdoors now more than ever enjoying the warm, sunny days. Whilst we spend more time outside summer is a month to be particularly cautious of sun expose to our skin and the importance of keeping sun smart. Here are 5 tips to help you keep your skin sun smart this year:

Sunscreen

The obvious yet most effective tip for sun safety is wearing a quality sunscreen. Whether you use 15-50+ apply any type of sunscreen to your skin regularly whilst exposed to the sun will help protect your skin. Ensure you are reapplying regularly and particularly after swimming.

Repairing Product

If you find that your skin has been damaged, particularly your face by too much sun exposure try investing in a product that can help combat any side effects such as pigmentation, dryness and sunspots. RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil is a certified organic product that can be used everyday that repairs sun damaged skin whilst reducing the appearance of pigmentation, improving the overall skin tissue as a result of any burns whilst providing a handful of other wonderful benefits.

Clothing

Another obvious yet important tip is ensuring you are dressing to protect your skin when sun exposed. Ensuring you have a hat that covers both your face and neck will dramatically protect your face from the harmful rays of the sun. Wearing looser and more breathable fabrics are another great way to cover your shoulders and arms without having to overheat.

Sunglasses

Whilst our skin is the most obvious part of our bodies we remember to protect from the sun we often forget about our eyes and the importance to protect them from the sun. prolonged exposure to the UV rays in the sunshine can lead to a number of eye related issues such as macular degeneration and cataracts. Remembering to wear sunglasses can keep your eyes protected against these type of conditions.

Time your exposure

As we know, the sun is stronger at certain points of the day – particularly around midday and into the early afternoon. Another tip to keep your skin sun smart is to try and only expose your skin to the sunshine whilst the UV rays are less harmful such as first thing in the morning.
